Privacy Policy

PouchDown is a private nicotine-pouch tracker and quit companion. We built it so that the data you care about - your pouches, notes, and reflections - stays on your device. This policy explains, in plain English, what we do and don’t collect, and why.
Summary
- Your personal logs are stored locally on your device.
- We do not require an account.
- We do not sync your personal logs to the cloud.
- We use anonymous diagnostics (Firebase, PostHog) to spot crashes and improve the app.
- Subscriptions are handled by Apple, Google and RevenueCat.
- You can delete a single entry - or wipe everything - in one tap.
What we collect, and why
1. On-device data (not collected by us)
Every pouch you log, every note, every reflection, every mode and goal - all stored on your device in a local database. PouchDown does not send any of this to a server, and we cannot read it. Uninstalling the app or wiping the data in Settings removes it.
2. Anonymous diagnostics (Firebase + PostHog)
To find bugs and understand how the app is used in aggregate, we use the following third-party services. None of them receive your personal pouch logs, notes, or reflections.
- Firebase Analytics (Google) - anonymous, aggregate usage events (e.g. “a user opened the urge timer”).
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) - crash reports and device/OS information when the app crashes, so we can fix it.
- Firebase Remote Config (Google) - feature flags and small configuration values used to tune the app safely.
- PostHog - product-analytics events (same anonymous, aggregate signal as Firebase Analytics) so we can understand which features are useful and which to improve.
Data is sent to Google in line with the Firebase privacy & security documentation, and to PostHog per the PostHog privacy policy.
3. Subscriptions (RevenueCat + Apple/Google)
If you buy a subscription or lifetime purchase, we use RevenueCat to verify your entitlement. Purchase and receipt data is processed by Apple or Google and handed to us through RevenueCat. We do not see your payment information.
We never sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We do not run third-party ad networks inside PouchDown.
Children & age
PouchDown is intended for adults aged 18 or over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 18.
Your rights
Because personal logs live on your device, you control them directly. You can:
- Delete any individual entry from the app.
- Wipe all data in Settings → “Delete all data”.
- Opt out of analytics in your device’s system settings (e.g. iOS “Allow Apps to Request to Track”).
- Contact us to ask any question about your data: pouchdownapp@gmail.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or the CCPA (right to access, correct, or delete personal information). To exercise those rights, email us at the address above.
Data retention
Personal logs are retained on your device for as long as you choose to keep them. Anonymous diagnostics are retained by the underlying providers per their default retention policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top, and for material changes we’ll announce it in-app.
